CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances sent by Egyptians working overseas amounted to approximately $29.7 billion during the first seven months of 2026. According to the Central Bank of Egypt, these inflows represented a 28.1% increase from about $23.2 billion during January through July 2025. The figures reflect funds remitted by Egyptians abroad and serve as the latest official data for the 2026 calendar year. Notably, the total is roughly $6.5 billion higher than the amount recorded during the same period in 2025.

In July alone, remittance inflows reached around $4.5 billion, marking a 20% rise from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure follows earlier increases reported earlier in the year. In January, remittances stood at about $3.5 billion, up 21% from $2.9 billion a year earlier. February saw inflows of roughly $3.8 billion, an increase of 25.7% compared to $3.0 billion in February 2025. Combined, January and February contributed roughly $7.3 billion to the total remittances recorded during the first seven months of 2026.
On a fiscal-year basis, total remittances for 2025/2026 reached approximately $47.3 billion, reflecting a 29.6% rise from the $36.5 billion recorded in fiscal 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows were about $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, representing a 15.6% increase. The overall rise for the fiscal year was around $10.8 billion. These fiscal-year figures span from July 2025 through June 2026, while the $29.7 billion total pertains to January through July 2026.
Remittance growth maintains double-digit momentum
The Central Bank of Egypt also announced that remittances reached a record $41.5 billion during calendar year 2025, which was 40.5% higher than the roughly $29.6 billion sent home in 2024. This increase amounted to about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances totaled around $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period in the previous year, resulting in a 29.6% rise over six months.
Remittances in December 2025 reached approximately $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, setting a new monthly record at that time. By January 2026, cumulative inflows for the fiscal year had hit about $25.6 billion, a 28.4% rise from $20.0 billion in the same period the year before. By the end of February, total remittances had increased to roughly $29.4 billion, compared to $23.0 billion a year earlier, marking a 28% growth over eight months of the fiscal year.
Official data confirm upward trends across periods
The upward trend persisted into the spring months. Remittances from July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 totaled about $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from $26.4 billion during the same period last year. By April, the ten-month total climbed further to around $39.2 billion, surpassing the previous year’s $29.4 billion by 33.2%. April alone brought in roughly $4.3 billion, a 44% jump from $3.0 billion in April 2025, which translates to an absolute monthly increase of about $1.3 billion.
By May, the total for the fiscal year reached approximately $43.1 billion, representing a 31.2% rise from $32.8 billion during the same period in the prior year. In May, inflows were around $3.9 billion, a 13.5% increase from roughly $3.4 billion a year earlier. The total for the eleven-month span stood at about $10.3 billion more than the previous year’s equivalent. The fiscal year concluded at $47.3 billion, with the calendar year total for 2026 reaching $29.7 billion as of July. Both the cumulative and monthly figures continue to stay above their respective figures from the previous year based on the latest official data.
