This allows users to compare the original data with any edited version within the Photos app. The company plans to support image metadata and the SynthID standard, with SynthID support arriving via a software update later in 2026.
Enhanced camera controls with variable aperture
The A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2-nanometer process, features a six-core CPU and a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, making a total of 32 cores dedicated to AI processing. Apple claims the GPU performance is up to 40% faster than that of the A19 Pro. A new vapor chamber design increases surface area, ensuring sustained high performance. The devices also incorporate Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity through Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip.
Battery life sees improvements across the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple rates the eSIM-only versions of the Pro for up to 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max model can reach up to 45 hours under similar conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro can achieve a 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes with compatible wired accessories. Eliminating the physical SIM tray in eSIM-only models creates extra space for larger batteries, and these models will be available in several Middle Eastern markets.
Siri AI makes its debut with iOS 27
Preloaded with iOS 27, the new phones support Siri AI through Apple Intelligence. Siri AI enters beta testing on September 14 for compatible devices configured in English, with support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish scheduled for October. The software can utilize personal context from messages, emails, and photos during request processing. It can also interpret and respond to on-screen content. Apple Intelligence relies on on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for supported cloud-based tasks.
Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro begins at $1,199 in the United States, with the Pro Max starting at $1,299. Both models are available with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. The color choices include burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. In the UAE, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at AED 5,099. Preorders open on September 12, with sales commencing on September 18. An additional 20 countries and regions are expected to receive the devices on September 25.
