Delays happen. Technical faults happen. Aircraft sometimes return to their point of departure for legitimate safety reasons, and no responsible passenger would ask a captain to compromise safety merely to protect a timetable. But safety cannot become a catch-all alibi for everything that follows. It may explain the return to Dubai. It does not explain the confusion, indecision, deteriorating hygiene or gradual abandonment of families with infants, elderly travellers and passengers with onward connections.
